Potty training a 3 year old child is usually a bit easier and faster than trying to potty train a 2 year old or an 18 month old child.

At 3 years old the child is more easily able to grasp what using the potty is and they should know how to pull their pants down and back up with ease.

During the potty training phase make sure to put the child in clothes that are easy to remove such as sweat pants so that they can pull them up and down with ease.

Once you begin the potty training of the 3 year old you should keep at it until they actually master the use of the toilet.

There will be accidents such as peeing on the floor or maybe poop in their pants but you need to just be gentle and help them clean it up and praise them along the way.

Eventually they will get it and use the toilet on their own.

Once you begin the potty training it can take between 6 months to even a year for the 3 year old to be fully potty trained.

So if you begin potty training the 3 year old at 3 then they may be fully potty trained and no longer need pull ups or diapers by age 3 years and 6 months but sometimes it may take until they are 4 years old before they no longer have accidents during the day.

At night it's a different story as they may still need a pull up or diaper at night to help with the bed wetting and that can last from age 7 to as long as age 15 or 16.
