What are your top tips for packing to move house?

When moving to a new house I always dread it and if I do need to move to a new house I always pack only the stuff I really need to take with me and anything else I try to sell off or give away.

Things such as washing machine, clothes dryer, stoves etc I try to sell and if I cannot sell it I give it away because it's not worth it to me to pay to move those appliances.

Even couches and large furniture I would rather give it away or sell it than have to pay a mover to move it.

But some people would rather hire a moving company to do all the packing and moving and will move the appliances and furniture without the person moving having to lift a hand to move the stuff.

They then might only take the smaller stuff with them in their car while allowing the movers to take the rest of the stuff for them.

Basically I would recommend going through everything that you don't need or don't want anymore or don't use anymore and get rid of it.

Put things in boxes that you want to keep and other things in boxes that you don't want to keep and give away.

Then throw things away that are truly trash.
