Yes pepper spray is just as effective on animals as it is on humans.
Dogs and most other animals will also get a burning sensation and temporary blindness when sprayed in the face with pepper spray.
The pepper spray will do no harm to the dog or other animal as long as it's washed off in time and I have had to use pepper spray before when on my daily walks.
A big Pit Bull dog got out of a fence and came over and tried to attack me and all I had was some Pepper Spray that I always carry with me.
I sprayed the Pit Bull dog in the face and eyes with the pepper spray and the dog could no longer see me and took off running in the other direction.
Bear spray will also work on dogs and many other animals but I just keep pepper spray with me in case I need to spray it in someone's face or in a dog or other animals face if they try to attack me.
If they leave me alone I will leave them alone and if not then they will get sprayed.
