Staining a deck will help to preserve the deck and make it last longer than it would without staining it.

The staining of the deck also improves the looks of the deck and improves the look of your home that the deck is attached too.

But if you really want the deck on your home to last a longer time you should not only stain the deck but also add a water proof spray or brush onto the deck.

I would recommend getting some Water Seal for the deck and then either spray it on the deck or roll it on the deck.

I would recommend using a paint roller to get the water seal into the deck boards better because when you spray it some of the water seal goes into the air but when you use a paint roller to roll the deck water seal on it gets onto the deck better.

I would recommend applying one coat of water seal to the deck and then water a few days and then apply another coat to help preserve the deck.

After about 2 or 3 years it's recommended to reseal the deck with some more water seal.

Or you could get those deck boards that aren't actually boards and they will last a lifetime.
