Is sliding on ice an at fault accident?

Yes sliding on ice and hitting someone else's car is an at fault accident and even though the roads are icy and is a cause of the accident you're still considered to be the driver at fault for the accident.

The ice is not considered the fault of the accident even though really it should be.

But whenever I've been on icy roads and slid into someone's vehicle it was marked down by the police as an at fault accident with myself being the driver at fault.

My car insurance rates did increase a little bit but eventually they went back down and after that accident of sliding on the roads I will not go out on icy roads unless absolutely necessary.

Driving on ice can be done safely but if you don't have to be on the road it's best to stay home and avoid a possible accident.
