A weighted blanket is anything but uncomfortable, and stimulates the human desire for a sense of security by providing an almost hug-like feel. While this seems to be a product used specifically for sleep, that is not necessarily true. Whether awake or asleep, the blanket will have the same effect, so simply draping the blanket over a child's lap will still produce serotonin that can later be transformed into melatonin for a better night's rest. Even placing the blanket on a kid's back while they watch television can produce a happier state of mind and instill optimism and calmness.
