Having a chemistry degree does help you become a pharmacist but just having the chemistry degree is usually not enough to be hired as a pharmacist or to open up your own pharmacy.

Most pharmacist need more than the chemistry degree and will require you to have your bachelor's degree.

You also need your undergraduate pre-professional (prerequisite) coursework, followed by four academic in the professional program which can take 2 to 3 years.

A Pharmacy degree is also needed and to become a pharmacist it usually takes between 6 to 8 years but plan on 8 years in total of study to become a pharmacist.

Being a pharmacist is a good job because pharmacists will always be in demand for many years as long as we need prescription medicine.
