Solar panels can indeed be recycled and sometimes you have to break them down to recycle the solar panels and sometimes some recycling centers will take the solar panels for free or a small charge to recycle them.

Solar panels are mostly made up of materials including things such as glass, plastic, and aluminum as well as sometimes copper wire.

All those materials are recyclable and it's worth it to look around to find a recycle center or break the solar panels down yourself and separate the materials even if you do not get paid for it.

If you don't want to recycle the solar panels yourself then you can post an ad on Craigslist advertising for someone to come pick up the scrap solar panels for free or even pay them a small fee to get rid of them.

Some trash services will not take solar panels while others will but you might even place the solar panels into a dumpster.

But usually someone will be willing to come get the scrap solar panels to recycle.
