Yes you can use diesel antifreeze in a gas engine to keep the engine from freezing and to keep the engine cooled off.

The diesel antifreeze is more suited for the diesel engine and provides more protection for the diesel engine so the antifreeze for the diesel engine will help to protect the gasoline engine more as well from corrosion and freezing.

Regular antifreeze will be much cheaper though than antifreeze made for diesel engines but you certainly can use diesel antifreeze in a cars gas engine without any issue.

I once had a burst radiator hose on a highway and the mechanic who fixed my car only had diesel antifreeze in stock and told me he had to use it instead of gasoline antifreeze.

He said that diesel antifreeze was a bit more expensive but it would be just fine to use it in the gasoline car engine.

I drove that car for 10 years before I sold it and it still had the diesel antifreeze in it from all those years.
