Why does my car not start after getting gas?

Whenever I fill up my gas tank at the gas station the car does not want to start right back up.

It takes a little while such as 5 or 10 minutes before it will start up again and sometimes I have to have someone push my car to another area in the gas station parking lot to allow it time to sit and then it starts up?

Your vehicle could be suffering from vapor lock after you fill the gas tank up causing the pump to not pump the fuel right away.

If your car starts after it sits for awhile then it's most likely vapor lock causing the engine to not start up after filling the tank.

Your fuel pump could also be getting weak and not allowing it to pump too much fuel properly so you should have that checked out as well.

But since the car starts after you let it sit for awhile my guess would be that it would be vapor lock in the gas tank since it happens only after you fill the tank up with gasoline.

Vapor Lock in a vehicle usually occurs mostly during hot summer months but it can happen at anytime.

You can try opening the gas cap if the car has a gas cap and sometimes that can help fix the vapor lock but other times you just need to wait.

It would be a good idea to have your fuel pressure tested to make sure your fuel pump is working properly but I would say that the issue is most likely vapor lock.
