The bacteria Legionella dies at at temperature of 140 F or above.

So if you can get the water up to 140 F or above you can kill the bacteria that leads to the disease from Legionella.

The hotter you boil the water the better but you kill off the bacteria for Legionella once the water temperature reaches at least 140 F.

The bacteria cannot survive in temperatures of 140 F unlike some other bacteria that requires boiling of water to kill the bacteria and other organisms.

The bacteria for Legionella will die within 2 to 3 minutes of getting the temperature to 140 F and will die sooner the hotter you get the water.
