The average American gets only 5 to 6 hours of sleep which is usually not enough sleep for the best health.
Some Americans get 7 to 8 hours of sleep per night which is best for your health.
Some people will go to sleep around 8:00 PM and wake up around 6:00 AM which would mean they get 10 hours of sleep which is good.
But some people go to sleep around 11:00 PM and get up around 6:00 AM so they would get 7 hours of sleep.
It takes around 15 to 30 minutes though to actually fall asleep once you get into bed so you need to factor in that time when you plan to go to bed to get enough rest for the day.
Try to aim for a minimum of 7 hours of sleep but if you can get 8 to 10 hours of sleep per night it will be much better.
