When does a baby stop drinking formula?

At what age do you stop feeding your baby formula and start feeding them solid foods?

Babies will need to drink formula for their main nutrition and food for the first 4 to 6 months of age.

Some babies are ready to start eating baby food as early as 4 months age while some babies may not be ready to eat baby food until 6 months of age.

Even though the baby starts eating baby food between 4 and 6 months of age you should still continue to give the baby formula in a baby bottle or continue to breastfeed the baby until at least 12 months of age.

The formula or breast milk is essential to the babies brain development so allowing the baby to stay on formula or breast milk until 12 months of age is best.

After 12 months of age the baby can usually start weaning off the bottle or breast and eat only baby food and other solid foods.

You can feed the baby oatmeal, apple sauce and other foods such as toast or soft bread etc when the baby is 12 months of age.

Once they have teeth to chew they can eat just about any other foods that adults eat but it's best to give the baby food in chopped up pieces small enough for them to easily chew and not choke on.
