Is green poop a sign of infection?

Yes sometimes green poop is a sign of an infection from the bacterium Salmonella or the parasite Giardia.

But if you have the bacteria Salmonella or Parasiste Giardia and it's a cause of the green poop you'll also experience severe diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever along with the infection.

If you're taking iron supplements or iron pills those can also cause your poop to turn green which is normal but you should tell your doctor about any changes in color to your poop.

Sometimes green poop can be caused by internal bleeding which needs medical attention but if the green poop goes away within a few days or so and you're not taking iron supplements then it's likely nothing to worry about.

But if the green poop continues then it could be a sign of an infection if you're not taking iron supplements.
