A tire on a vehicle will usually explode from too much air pressure once you get the air pressure to 200 PSI or sometimes as low as 100 PSI.

If the tire has any defects in it or cracks etc then the tire may explode when airing it up at only 10 to 20 psi above the recommended inflated pressure.

Inflating the tire about 5 PSI above the recommended pressure should not cause the tire to explode but never go above the recommended PSI for safety.

When airing up tires that are off the vehicle it's best to use a tire cage and stand far away from the tire while airing of the tire.

There have been some truck and car tires that have exploded on mechanics and have killed them or injured them severely.

So always just add a little air to the tire at a time and check every few minutes of the tire pressure.

Having too much air pressure in the tire can also cause the tire to wear out faster and could cause it to burst on the highway leading to a fatal accident.
