Motor oil containers as of right now cannot be recycled.
No recycling companies will take used motor oil containers as of now because there's no safe way of recycling the used motor oil bottles.
Hopefully one day there will be recycling options for empty motor oil bottles but currently there are none.
My recycling bin says do not put used empty motor oil bottles in the recycling bin and I have never found any recycling centers to be able to take them.
Sine the motor oil bottles are made of plastic it seems like there could be some way to recycle the used motor oil bottles back into plastic at least for more motor oil.
I can't see why there wouldn't be someway of recycling the used motor oil bottles to make more plastic motor oil bottles.
Or to at least be able to refill the used motor oil bottles with fresh oil again.
But as of now you need to just throw the empty motor oil bottles into the trash or pour your old motor oil into the motor oil bottles to recycle the used motor oil.
