Both kayaking and canoeing are pretty similar to each other but the main difference between kayaking and canoeing is in the way the boat is made and how the person sits in the boat.

In a Kayak the person in the kayak sits on a low seat with their legs extended in front.

In a Canoe the person either kneels on the bottom of the boat or sits on a raised seat to paddle the Canoe.

A kayak is also A closed top boat and more often than not are single seaters with only one person being to fit in the Kayak and a Canoe can sometimes have more than one seat.

When kayaking or canoeing they require different techniques of paddling so that's another difference between the two.

A paddle for a canoe has a blade on one end and a paddle for a Kayak is bladed at both ends of the paddle.
