It's estimated that there are around 100 to 200 people who get struck by lightning each year and around 51 people who get struck by lightning out of those 100 to 200 people die.
The rest of the people who do get struck by lightning usually survive but sometimes have severe injuries as a result.
If it's lightning outside it's best to stay inside the house where you're safe from the lightning as it's not worth venturing out.
If you're inside your car or other vehicle stay inside your vehicle during the lightning and only go inside a building when it's safe to do so.
