If you're not at fault for the accident when someone hits you then no your auto insurance rates should not go up or increase as a result of someone else hitting you.

Since it's not your fault for the accident when someone else hits you then the auto insurance company should not penalize you for the car accident.

When you make an insurance claim against the other persons auto insurance then usually the other persons auto insurance will increase at least somewhat because they were at fault.

But if you did nothing to cause the accident then your own auto insurance should not go up.

If you had someone hit you and then did a hit and run and meaning the the at fault driver left the scene after hitting you and you then make a claim against your own insurance then sometimes your auto insurance may go up and other times the auto insurance will stay the same.
