When you have been diagnosed with Stage 4 cirrhosis of the liver you can live from 2 years to 8 years depending on how severe the liver damage is.

Stage 4 cirrhosis is a bad stage of liver damage so if you don't get treatment to help slow the progression of the Stage 4 cirrhosis then you can expect to live for 1 to 2 years after the diagnoses.

Although Stage 4 cirrhosis of the liver cannot be cured there are treatments that can be done to help slow the progression down.

So if you have the treatment to slow down the progression of the Stage 4 cirrhosis of the liver then you might live 5 to 8 years and in some rare cases up to 10 years.

The liver damage happens over a period of years and it's a long term liver damage mostly caused by consuming too much alcohol.

But you can still have liver damage and Stage 4 cirrhosis of the liver even without drinking a lot of alcohol or any alcohol at all.
