What is the difference between autism and Asperger's syndrome?

The conditions autism and Asperger's syndrome are pretty similar but the only real difference between autism and Asperger's syndrome is that with Asperger's Syndrome there is no speech delay while in a person who has autism they might have a speech delay.

According to medical professionals Asperger's Syndrome is considered to be a less severe form of Autism.

There's also both high functioning autism and low functioning autism where someone with high functioning autism may seem pretty normal other than having a fear of speaking in front of others, having a hard time making eye contact etc.

And if someone has a lower functioning form of autism they would experience the same symptoms as a high functioning person with autism but it's more severe.

They may also have speech delays and an inability to focus properly etc.
