When a car is jerking when you accelerate the car then it could be caused by faulty spark plugs, bad ignition timing or low fuel pressure.

When your engine is not getting the proper spark it can't ignite the fuel properly and when it does that the engine can cause the car to jerk when accelerating it.

When you don't get enough fuel to the engine the engine can also sputter and the engine sputtering can also lead to a car jerking when accelerating.

You should have your spark plugs checked and have your ignition timing checked as well as your fuel pressure.

A clogged fuel filter or bad fuel or clogged fuel injector could also cause the engine to sputter which can then lead to the jerking when accelerating.

I would advise having a mechanic check the car out to find out exactly what is causing the jerking.

But if you haven't changed your spark plugs in 100,000 miles or more then you should change them anyway.

The fuel filter should be changed every 50,000 miles or 10 years as well.
