How much is too much sleep for a teenager?

A teenage should get between 9 to 10 hours of sleep for optimal health and to keep them alert during the day.

Some teenagers might sleep as long as 12 hours if they need the 12 hours of sleep and that is okay too as every person and teenager is different.

If the teenager is sleeping longer than 12 hours then they might be sleeping too much and sleeping too much can be caused by some medical conditions.

So if your teenager is sleeping longer than 12 hours you might want to get the teenager checked out by his or her doctor to be sure they don't have an underlying medical condition.

Some medical conditions can also cause a teenager or anyone else to sleep a lot during the day as well.

I used to sleep 10 hours per night when I was a teenager and I was always well rested and ready for the day.
