The normal oil temperatures for a cars engine is between 230 F and 260 F and when the oil temperature gets higher than 260 F then the oil can begin to break down which prevents the oil from lubricating the engine properly.
Some engine oils can tolerate temperatures of 275 F but any higher than 275 F then the oil will break down which is not good.
So as long as your oil temperature is no higher than 260 F on most cars and vehicles then you should be okay.
If your oil temperature is going higher than 260 F then it would be a good idea to have a mechanic check the vehicle out to be sure it's operating properly.
Different vehicles can work at different oil temperatures and what may be a high oil temperature for one vehicle may be perfectly okay for another vehicle.
But any higher than 260 F for oil temperature I would be checking the engine oil to be sure everything was okay.
