Fireflies are actually toxic to bats so bats do not eat fireflies as they would die if they ate fireflies.

Frogs and Toads do eat fireflies though as well as other amphibians but bats will avoid eating fireflies.

If you see a bat eating fireflies then they will likely die in a few days or so after eating fireflies because they are toxic to bats when ingested.

I have seen one bat eat a firefly though when the firefly was not flashing it's lights and I never saw that bat again after that.

So I'm not sure if the bat died or it went somewhere else.

But since fireflies are toxic to bats the bat likely did die as a result of eating the firefly.
