Usually it takes between 1 and 2 years of not paying child support before a warrant is issued for your arrest and if you get stopped by the police and they check your drivers license or ID and you have a warrant for arrest for the child support then you'll be arrested and taken to jail.

You can then get 1 to 2 years in jail for the failure to pay child support because they see it as a serious offense even though you can't pay any child support when you're in jail.

But if you're ordered to pay child support and if you can do so you should pay the child support or you will eventually end up in jail over the situation.

If you have a child it's still your obligation to care for that child and provide money to care for that child even if you're divorced from the child's mother.

Also if your child support payment is overdue for longer than 2 years, or the amount exceeds $10,000.00, then the violation is a criminal felony charge and you can get 2 years to 5 years in prison over the deal.

So always do your best to pay child support or never have a child in the first place if you plan to not support them.

Children are wonderful but also are a huge responsibility and are also expensive.
