The pink mold that you find in your shower is caused by Serratia marcescens.

Serratia marcescens is found in bathrooms and showers because of the moist environment that bathrooms have and that's where it thrives the best.

The pink mold or Serratia marcescens needs dampness, mineral deposits, and warm temperatures to grow and the shower and bathroom is a perfect environment for that to thrive.

Basically Serratia marcescens is a gram-negative bacillus that occurs naturally in soil and water and produces a red pigment at room temperature which can turn into the pink mold you see in your shower.

The Serratia marcescens can cause things such as urinary and respiratory infections, endocarditis, osteomyelitis, septicemia, wound infections, eye infections, and meningitis.

So you need to get rid of that pink mold before it leads to health issues.

To get rid of the pink mold in your shower fill a spray bottle halfway with white vinegar or chlorine bleach and then add warm water to fill it up the rest of the way.

Then spray the pink mold with the solution and allow it to sit for 10 to 20 minutes and then scrub the pink mold away and wash it off.
