Biting your nails is a bad habit that can lead to damaged nails and can lead to teeth damage if done enough.

However there's no way for a person to get any worms inside them through biting their nails.

My mom used to tell me that I would get worms from biting my nails and so it actually did scare me enough to where it helped me stop biting my nails so that was a good thing.

However later on in years as I got to be an adult I asked my doctor if there was any truth to the matter of getting worms inside our bodies from biting our nails.

The doctor said that there's no way that you can get worms from biting your nails but you should avoid biting your nails anyway.

However if your nails are dirty and you haven't washed your hands then your fingernails can contain bacteria that can enter your body through your mouth especially if you swallow the nail you bite off.

So you could get sick from biting your nails if you have bacteria on your hands.

You can get gastro-intestinal infections that lead to diarrhea and abdominal pain from biting your nails too often if you have dirty nails or dirty hands.

Also some people who bite there nails get paronychia which is another type of infection that is not good.

But no you cannot get worms from biting your nails but sometimes biting your nails can make you sick in other ways.
