Unlike humans bugs and other insects do not contain any pain receptors.

Without the pain receptors the bugs cannot feel any pain when stepped on or squished.

However while bugs cannot feel any pain they may feel some irritation when you step on them or squish them so the bugs will feel something but it's not the pain like we feel.

And if you step on a bug and it dies then the irritation would not last long because it would be an almost instant death in the bug.

Bugs also do not have any emotions so the bugs cannot suffer when you step on them or kill them.

So do not feel bad when stepping on a bug or killing them because some bugs do need to be killed such as mosquitoes, wasps, roaches, etc.
