When storing firewood you should keep the firewood a minimum of 5 feet away from your house to prevent bugs from getting into your home.
Also store the firewood on racks or pallets 5 feet away from the house and use the firewood racks or pallets to keep the firewood off the ground so that the firewood doesn't rot out.
When the firewood is on the ground bugs can get onto the firewood easier and keeping the firewood off the ground helps to keep the bugs off of it and prevents wood rot.
You can bring a few days or a weeks worth of wood up near closer to your house so that you can get to it easier and make sure you keep your firewood covered and dry to prevent snow and rain from getting on it.
Keeping too much firewood near your house can cause bugs to enter your house and could cause termites to get to your house as well.
You can also keep a day or 2 days supply of firewood in your house stacked near the wood stove.
But I would keep most of it outside to prevent bugs in the house and prevent termites.
