The first ever person to get a paper speeding ticket was Harry Myers who got the ticket for speeding in the town of Dayton Ohio in 1904.

The first person to get arrested for speeding was Jacob German in New York City.

On May 20, 1899 Jacob German was arrested for driving 12 miles per hour on Lexington Avenue in Manhattan.

But then Harry Myers was the first person to get a paper ticket for speeding and for going 12 miles per hour on West Third Street in the year 1904.

Speeding tickets are a very good revenue source for the police department because they can catch several people speeding and issue them a ticket.

The same is true with a seat belt ticket as the police really don't care if you wear a seat belt or not and all they care about is catching you without wearing your seat belt and then issuing you a ticket for the seat belt violation so that they make revenue.

It's all about the money.
