If your car is equipped with a low oil sensor then when the engine oil is low enough it could cause the engine to not start due to shutting off the spark.

I've had a few cars that had the low oil pressure sensor tell the computer to shut down the spark so that the engine doesn't get ruined when running without oil or low oil.

You can try checking the engine oil and make sure it's at the proper level which is a good idea anyway because the engine needs the proper amount of oil for the best lubrication and make sure the engine oil has been changed as well.

If it's been 3,000 to 5,000 miles since the last oil change then it's time to change the engine oil to protect your engine.

Some other things that could cause the car to not start is bad spark plugs, low fuel pressure, no fuel pressure, bad spark plug wires, bad ignition control module, bad ignition coils, a fuse to the ignition or the timing could be off due to a broke or loose timing belt or a bad timing chain depending on what type of car you have.
