Adding a swimming pool to your property doesn't always add value to your home in the sense where you would get more money for your home with the swimming pool.
Adding a swimming pool to your yard will increase your annual property taxes though but not always increase your resale value of the home.
Swimming pools are nice but I would actually pay more for a home that didn't have a swimming pool than one with a swimming pool.
I have a temporary swimming pool that is above ground that I put up when summer comes and then empty and take down during the fall.
That way it keeps my property taxes down and there's less work involved in maintaining the swimming pool.
If I want to go swimming in a bigger swimming pool then I find a public swimming pool to go swimming.
Swimming pools take up a lot of ground space in the back yard so I would not recommend adding one and would only get an above ground swimming pool instead.
