When a child poops in a diaper you should change the poop diaper as soon as possible but you don't have to immediately change the diaper if you cannot change it right away.

I've been on road trips with my kids before and my 3 year old son pooped in a diaper and I couldn't stop for another hour because there was no safe place to stop and change his diaper.

We rolled the windows down and continued on down the road until we found a rest stop where I was then able to change his diaper.

He never complained about the poop diaper because I think he didn't mind the poop in the diaper but It sure smelled.

Also some kids may still need to poop again after they poop their diaper once so it's best to wait at least 10 minutes after you notice the child has pooped the diaper to avoid getting pooped on again or having to change another pooped diaper.

If the kid or baby is sleeping in poop then there's really no need to wake the child or baby up to change their diaper as they'll be okay overnight.
