Why does my PCV valve keep popping out when I accelerate?

Yesterday when I was driving my truck the PCV valve on my engines valve cover popped out and spilled oil out onto my exhaust manifold and engine.

What would cause the pcv valve to come out of the valve cover when I accelerate?

I also noticed some oil coming out of the breather tube and getting into my throttle body and air cleaner?

If your PCV valve keeps popping out it's usually because the PCV valve is failing and likely stuck closed or not operating properly.

I had that happen before with the PCV valve popping out upon accelerating when on a road trip and it turned out to be the PCV valve just not working properly.

I got a new PCV valve at the auto parts store for around $4.00 and it fixed the problem.

So it's worth a try to replace the PCV valve to see if it fixes the problem.

You could also add a little silicone to the PCV valve to help secure it into the grommet or get a new grommet for the PCV valve along with the new PCV valve.

The PCV valve helps release crankcase pressure so that pressure in the crankcase causes the PCV valve to pop out when it's not working properly.

Your engine oil could also be overfilled as well or you have something else internally wrong with your engine.

Another thing could cause it is a clogged oil filter so check those things and I would recommend getting a new PCV valve every 3 to 5 years to keep from having it go bad and causing your engine to spill oil.
