If you eat lead which you shouldn't do then you can get lead poisoning and can eventually die as a result especially if you do eat enough of the lead.
Small amounts of lead would likely not be enough to kill you but if you eat lead or get lead into your system more and more overtime then it can lead to lead poisoning which can be deadly.
Sometimes the lead poisoning can kill you within a month or two of the lead exposure or ingesting of lead and other times it can take years of being exposed to the lead to get poisoned.
Lead can stay in the blood for several months and it can be stored in the bones for 30 years or more.
So it's a good idea to get tested for lead levels in your body or your child's body and if your child has eaten some lead such as from lead paint then you should take the child to urgent care to be safe.
Adults can sometimes get lead poisoning through breathing in lead dust or being exposed to lead through work or when working at home.
