When food passes too quickly through the colon what happens is that your body doesn't absorb the nutrients like it's supposed too.

So you don't get the proper amount of nutrients from the food you eat when it passes too quickly through your colon.

The food needs to pass through your colon at the proper speed for your body to process and absorb the nutrients properly.

If the food passes through your colon too slow then too much water is drawn from the stool which makes it harder to pass the stool.

Then that can cause problems such as constipation and other concerns such as haemorrhoids or diverticulitis.

Haemorrhoids are also known as piles which are swellings containing enlarged blood vessels that are found inside or around the bottom (the rectum and anus).
