Small sinkholes are usually not very dangerous as long as you get the sinkhole filled in and fixed properly before it potentially opens up more and then it can swallow a person as well as there home, car etc.

If you have a small sinkhole appearing in your yard you should determine the extent of the hole by careful excavation and probing.

Then use some clay, gravel rocks etc to fill the sinkhole in and prevent further opening of the sinkhole.

If you're unsure exactly how to fill in the sinkhole you should hire a contractor who knows what they are doing so they don't cause a bigger sinkhole.

When filled in properly the property the sinkhole should cause no further problems but if you do notice the sinkhole opening up again you should get someone out again to look at it.

Or have an engineer come out and check the soil around your home.
