Why does USPS tracking say my package has visible damage?

My USPS tracking for my package I ordered from ebay says Visible Damage?

Does that mean that my package has been damaged or the item I ordered has been damaged?

I've had that happen to a package of mine as well and it turns out that the visible damage was just the package being damaged and not the actual part I ordered.

I had ordered an oil pump for my truck before and I was worried that the oil pump had become damaged during shipment.

So I went to pick it up at the post office and then luckily it was just the package being damaged and not the actual part or item that was being shipped.

So it can sometimes mean that the package is just damaged and then it can sometimes mean the item has damage to it that the postal employees can see after the package has been torn or damaged.

I wouldn't worry too much though as it's likely just the package being damaged and nothing else although there is the possibility of the item being damaged as well.

If the item is damaged then you should contact the seller and have them sort the situation out with the USPS who should then cover the cost of the damaged item through insurance.

Visible damage to a package or other mail from the USPS on the USPS tracking info usually means that the packaging was damaged by the USPS in their sorting facility and usually means that it's just the packaging has the visible damage.

The contents of the package are usually okay and do not suffer damage unless it's something really fragile but usually your item is okay.

I get some packages that say that on the USPS tracking and it always says on the package that it was damaged in the USPS sot facility and that they apologize for the damaged package.

As long as the item is not damaged and it's only the packaging that is damaged I'm okay with that.

If the item is damaged then the shipper needs to file a claim with the USPS to cover the cost of the damage to the item.

If the item you bought is damaged by the USPS you need to send pictures of the damaged packing and the damaged item to the shipper who can then show the pictures to the USPS and then file a claim.
