A vehicles belt usually squeaks or squeals either due to being too cold and hard or because the belt is lose and slipping on the pulleys.
So if the belt continues to squeak or squeal you should get it checked out because it could be stretched out and could eventually come off the pulleys entirely leaving your vehicle on the side of the road.
If the belt does break or come off then your water pump, alternator, power steering pump etc will stop working and you won't be able to drive your vehicle.
So get your vehicle checked out and you might need your serpentine belt replaced because it could be stretched out and a stretched out serpentine belt is not good.
Your serpentine belt needs the proper tension to keep it on the pulleys so it won't slip off.
Your serpentine belts tension device might also be bad and not allowing enough tension on the belt so get it checked out before you get stranded on the side of the road.
