Becoming a chemist takes around 6 to 8 years of college education that the chemist must complete to become a chemist.

To become an average chemist requires the person to have a doctoral degree and at least a masters degree which takes around 1 to 2 years for the masters degree.

And then for the doctoral degree takes around 4 to 6 years.

So to become a chemist you should expect to go through at least 6 years of college but sometimes you might need to complete 8 years of college depending on what specialty of a chemist you're looking to work in.

The more advanced a chemist the more education the chemist would need to be hired in that field of chemistry.
