If your dog is potty trained and can hold in it's urine at night then it's okay to leave a bowl of water out at night for your dog to drink.
However if the dog is not potty trained yet or pees in the house at night or during the day then you should put the water up an hour before bed time.
That would keep the dog from drinking water overnight and then needing to pee which would then lead to the dog peeing in the house.
When I had puppies I would put the water bowl up an hour before I went to bed and then put the water bowl out again the next morning.
But when the puppies go potty trained and didn't go pee in the house I just left the water bowl out for the dog to drink whenever they got thirsty.
