An Irish Wolfhound could indeed kill a wolf if it were to come into contact with one and got into a fight with a wolf.

However it's very unlikely that today an Irish Wolfhound would kill a wolf or come into contact with a wolf since they are not really that close to each other anymore.

Years ago an Irish Wolfhound would likely and possibly kill a Wolf but today they are usually pretty far apart from each other.

Irish Wolfhounds are okay for wolf hunting and could kill a wolf if you were to use an Irish Wolfhound for Wolf hunting but they are not the best wolf hunting dogs.

But out in the wild an Irish Wolfhound would likely just leave the wolf alone unless it were in need of food and wanting to actually attack the wolf.

Other times the Irish Wolfhound might just search for something else to kill and eat that would put up less of a fight.

But still if it's hungry enough the Irish wolfhound just might kill off the wolf for food.
