Replacing a fuel pump on a car or other vehicle requires dropping the gasoline tank which is not all that hard but if it has gasoline in the tank then the gasoline tank will weigh more than empty.

You need a jack to put underneath the gasoline tank to slowly lower the gas tank down to access the fuel pump inside the gasoline tank.

You'll need to unbolt the gas tank straps to remove the gas tank and if you've never dropped a gas tank on a vehicle before or replaced a fuel pump then it can take a few hours to complete the job.

You just slowly lower the gasoline tank after taking the bolts loose and then remove the ring holding the fuel pump in in the tank and lift it out of the tank.

Then disconnect the fuel pump from the fuel pump assembly, unplug it and then reverse the procedure.

You can also usually buy a fuel pump and strainer assembly for just  a bit more than the cost of the fuel pump itself.

Then just unplug and unhook the fuel hoses and then reconnect the new fuel pump and lower it into the tank and secure the ring to hold the fuel pump and strainer in the tank.

Then lift the gasoline tank back into place and re bolt the straps back in place.

Sometimes it's just easier to have a shop with a lift replace the fuel pump and lower the tank as they can usually do the job within an hour and have your vehicle ready to go.
