Most long term health care insurance lasts from 2 to 3 years with 3 years being the maximum length of time that the long term health insurance lasts.

Also most long term health insurance plans have a 3 month waiting period before the long term health insurance coverage kicks in.

The long term health insurance will also pay a maximum benefit of $160.00 daily for nursing home care.

If you need longer term health care coverage for nursing homes after 3 years then you'll need to use the persons assets or other insurance to pay for long term care insurance.

Some other health insurance may pay for the long term care insurance but it's not guaranteed.
