An insurance quote will not harm or hurt your credit score or credit rating.

When you go online or call an insurance company for an insurance quote your credit score and credit rating will be pulled up and checked to see how good of a risk you are to the insurance company.

This credit score and credit rating check only puts a soft inquiry onto your credit rating and does not lower your credit score unlike a credit check for a loan or credit card would.

The soft inquiry does not affect your credit score at all so you can get as many insurance quotes for any type of insurance such as auto insurance, homeowners insurance, renters insurance, health insurance etc and it will not lower your credit score.

The soft inquiry should drop off your credit report within a few months to a year but no matter what your credit rating will not be hurt when getting insurance quotes or shopping for insurance.
