Mobility scooters are usually road legal although they do not require any tags or registration for road use.
I've seen many people drive the mobility scooters down roads to get to stores and other places and never has a cop pulled one over.
From what I've learned and read online mobility scooters although not really made for the road are legal to drive down the road as long as you stay off the highway which would be dangerous.
But smaller slower driven roads in town are okay to drive the mobility scooter down to get around town and I've seen many people driving the mobility scooter.
My grandmother also used to drive her mobility scooter around town to get to the grocery store and other places she needed to go.
Never once was she pulled over by any police for driving her mobility scooter down the road but just be careful of your surroundings and watch out for any other vehicles when driving your mobility scooter down the road.
