If you've never rebuilt an engine yourself before then it can take awhile to learn how to tear everything apart and put the parts back into the proper places.

You also need to check valve clearances and possibly hone the cylinder walls before installing the pistons and piston rings.

When I first rebuilt an engine myself it took me a 2 months to finally get the parts back in place as I was learning as I went.

The next engine I rebuilt took me 3 days start to finish and I probably could have rebuilt it in 2 days or less but I was in no hurry and worked on the engine when I had time such as in the evenings when I got home from work.

If I didn't have work I may have been able to completely rebuild the engine in one day if I got up early and started tearing it down and rebuilding it.
