Yes Pikes Peak is the highest mountain in the United States.

Pikes Peak was named after the American Explorer Zebulon Pike who was unable to reach the summit.

The summit or Pikes Peak is also higher than any point in the United States that is east of its longitude.

Pikes Peak is a pretty mountain and a great drive as well.

When you go to visit Pikes Peak the view will take your breath away as well.

I visited Pikes Peak a few years ago and it was beautiful and I hope to go again in a few more years when I can get a vacation from work.

The drive to the top of Pikes Peak is around 19 miles and takes around 30 minutes to an hour depending on how often you stop for breaks and to explore.

Pikes Peak is not even close to being the highest mountain in the United States.  Mt. Denali in Alaska takes that honor at 20,300 ft.  In the lower 48, Mt. Whitney is the highest at 14, 505 ft.  In the Rockies, Mt. Elbert is the highest at 14,440 ft.  Pikes Peak is way down the list at 14, 115 ft., the 39th highest mountain in the U.S.
