The most common sign and symptom of your main bearings in your engine going bad are knocking noises or even screeching noises coming from the engine.

If you're noticing knocking noises or screeching noises your engine is probably gonna seize up soon so do not ignore those sounds.

Have a mechanic check it out or get it fixed as soon as possible.

Running an engine with bad main bearings will eventually lead to the engine seizing up.

If your car knocks when you first start it up then your engines main bearings are likely bad and should be fixed.

Another symptom of main bearings going bad is also Rod Knock which is a steady hammering that increases linearly with rpm.
